What to expect in therapy
Choosing a therapist is a personal process that involves balancing practical needs, like insurance and location, with the "therapeutic alliance"—the level of comfort and trust you feel with the provider. A good therapist is empathic, trustworthy, and nonjudgmental, creating a safe space where you feel heard and understood, while possessing strong listening skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to provide practical, clear guidance towards mutually agreed-upon goals, constantly learning and adapting to your unique needs for real progress.
Here is what you need to consider and what we will be doing in therapy.
Identifying Your Goals and Specific Needs
Identify the issue: Are you seeking help for a specific condition (e.g., OCD, Anxiety, Depression, Fear, PTSD), a life transition (e.g., grief, career change), or relationship issues? I have much experience in these areas and will create a treatment plan that is individual and tailored to your specific needs.
Determine preference: Decide if you prefer in-person individual sessions, group therapy session, couples therapy, family systems therapy, or the flexibility of Telehealth at times. I have experience in all of these areas and can work collaboratively to meet your needs most of the time.
Cultural fit: Consider if you want a therapist who shares your background, such as race, or religion. Either way, this is a personal decision for you to choose me as your therapist. I create a space that is warm and inviting-non-judgmental. I offer DBT, CBT, ACT, and BSFT. However, if you feel a specific type of therapy works better for you, we can possibly explore that modality too.
If you are interested in moving forward please fill out the contact information or send me an email. I look forward to working with you and thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you as your therapist.
